205th Annual Convention

Moves to a Virtual Format
November 12-13, 2021

Date: September 21, 2021

To:  Clergy, Senior Wardens, Clerks of Vestries, Persons granted Seat and Voice,
Parish Administrators
Due to the continued increase in COVID-19 cases in Ohio, the decision has been made to move to a completely virtual convention for this November 12-13, 2021. This means we will not be at the Marriott this fall as originally planned and attendance will be limited to Clergy delegates, Lay delegates, and those with Seat & Voice privileges. However, by using available technology, we will continue to keep as a priority the safety and wellbeing of communicants in the Diocese of Ohio while conducting the necessary business of the Church.

Utilizing feedback received after last year’s virtual convention, the agenda for this virtual convention provides time for important “table conversations” among attendees. All Clergy delegates and Lay delegates are expected to participate in both the Friday and Saturday sessions. The virtual convention agenda follows:
Friday, November 12
ZOOM session
7:00 - 8:15 p.m.
Opening Prayer
Bishop's Episcopal Address
Presentation and Table Conversations
Closing Prayer
Saturday, November 13
Webinar session
9:00a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Opening Prayer
Summary Report of Table Conversations
Convention Business
Closing Prayer
Registration, delegate certification, and all other forms and information is posted on the diocesan website (www.dohio.org) as it becomes available and is shared in the weekly e-bulletin.

Additional things to note:

  • One handbook will be mailed to each clergy person on the Bishop’s list of clergy eligible to vote.
  • Three handbooks will be mailed to each parish. Each parish is to provide a copy to their elected lay delegate(s).
  • Registration will be available on the diocesan website by September 30. The $40 per person registration fee is waived again this year due to the continued financial strain parishes are experiencing as a result of the pandemic.
  • Holding a virtual convention means all participants must have, or have access to, a computer or phone with:
  • An Internet connection; and
  • Webcam or Audio (through computer speakers and microphone, or telephone)
  • Voting will be done by phone, so please verify clergy delegates, lay delegates, and alternates have, or have access to, the above technology. Without it they cannot participate or vote in a virtual convention.
  • Elect delegates and alternates as soon as possible so they can take full advantage of training and instruction in advance of convention.
  • Who to contact if you have questions:
  • Parish compliance – Chris Butterfield at 216.774.0461 or cbutterfield@dohio.org
  • Technology – Beth Bergstrom at 216.774.0445 or bbergstrom@dohio.org
  • General questions – Eva Cole at 216.774.0457 or ecole@dohio.org
