A Response from Diocese re: Mass Shootings

5/31/2022

May 31, 2022

We believe in thoughts and prayers.
And we know that actions and deeds are their fruit.

So...what shall our fruit be in this work against gun violence?

Join us for three sixty-minute Zoom conversations about how you can actively respond to this epidemic of gun violence in our country.
  • Conversation 1 - Grounded in our faith and stories, what can we do in our close personal lives? What can we do within ourselves, as well as our interactions with families, friends, neighbors, and coworkers? - Wednesday, June 8 at 7 p.m.
  • Conversation 2 - And what can we do in our local congregations? We will join with Episcopalians from across Province V to talk about how to begin a Gun Violence Ministry in your own parish. - Wednesday, June 22 at 7 p.m.
  • Conversation 3 - And what can we do in support of community and political initiatives? - Wednesday, June 29 at 7 p.m.
And, as a way to begin, all are invited to take part in a
Guns to Gardens: National Buyback Day event hosted by our own
Church of the Epiphany in Euclid on Saturday, June 11.
  • The gun buyback from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. is for those looking to trade in/dispose of guns for gift cards.
  • After that, there will be a Vigil beginning with an iron forge being lit at 2:30 p.m. and followed with the opportunity to pray to lament, repent, and recommit to ending gun violence.
  • More information about the day can be found here.
Please register for the Zoom Conversations here.

The Zoom link for Conversations 1 and 3 will be
https://zoom.us/j/5036718384.
We will send the Province V link for Conversation 2 as soon as possible.

Leading us in each of these conversations will be The Rev. Rosalind C Hughes, author of Whom Shall I Fear? Urgent Questions for Christians in an Age of Violence and rector of the Church of the Epiphany, Euclid, Ohio. Rosalind is a long-time anti-gun violence advocate. You can read her blog https://rosalindhughes.com/ . She is a frequent contributor to Episcopal Cafe and other publications, and the author of A Family Like Mine.
